Supplying proof of I.D.

Proof of ID and eligibility to work in the UK

Staffline are responsible for ensuring that you are entitled to work in the U. K. regardless of your nationality. Our recruitment Consultants will not be allowed to interview you if you fail to produce the required documents or if the documents are copies of original documents.

Where applicable we do carry out checks with the Home Office to confirm eligibility and status of applicants and contractors.

If you have doubts about the necessary documentation needed please ask our recruitment consultant when booking your interview appointment.

The information below is intended only as a guide - if you are unsure please ask.

  • U.K. Nationals
  • Commonwealth
  • New E.U Citizens
  • "A8" E.U. Citizens
  • Non-E.U. Citizens

Types of I.D. acceptable for U. K. nationals are as follows: -

An in-date* U.K. passport (inc. passport cover) or

One document showing a permanent National Insurance number including a P60, P45, NI card, letter from a Government office or a payslip from other recent employment

PLUS either a birth certificate showing parents names or adoption certificate or a certificate of registration/naturalization a a British citizen.

* Passports can be accepted up to three years out-of-date provided that other photographic evidence is supplied such as a new style driving license.

Types of I.D. acceptable for applicants from Commonwealth Countries

Passport including cover with an authorizing stamp stating the holder can stay for an indefinite period or;

In date passport including cover with a student visa or;

In date passport including cover with a working holiday markers visa or;

In date passport including cover with an entry clearance visa

Types of I.D. acceptable for applicants from new E.U. Member States

In date passport including cover or;

In date passport including cover with blue residence documentation that states that you can work or;

Out of date (up to 3 years) passport accompanied by photographic ID e.g. driving Licence or;

ID card that includes the nationality and expiry.

For Romanian & Bulgarian Citizens;

Blue Residence documentation stating that you can work

Types of I.D. acceptable for original A8 Member States

In date passport including cover or;

ID card that includes the nationality and expiry date or:

Out of date (up to 3 years) passport accompanied by photographic ID e.g. driving Licence

 

Types of I.D. acceptable for Non-E.U. applicants

Passport including cover with an authorizing stamp stating that you can stay for an indefinite period
In date passport including cover with a student visa
In date passport with residence permit card
In date passport including cover with an entry clearance visa or residence permit
Home Office travel document with the stamp authorizing work - must be original
If you do not have any of the above we may be able to accept the following:
Document showing a permanent National Insurance Number. This can be a any of the following – P45, P60, NI card or government letter
Plus either
Immigration status document stating how long the applicant can remain in the UK and employment is permitted
Immigration status document stating that you can remain in the UK indefinitely and that employment is permitted.

In many cases we are required to contact the Immigration Service to confirm eligibility to work status
