Quality Supervisor

I am looking for a Quality Supervisor with a strong Engineering background


My client is a market leader in their field and are looking for experienced Quality Supervisor to join their team in the Cotswolds to co-ordinate the various tasks of the inspection team and manage their daily priorities. This includes supervision of all inspectors responsible for Goods-In, Machine Shop and Final Inspection. Ensuring that theappropriate quality standards are maintained and quality/inspectionissues are communicated.

The successful candidate for the Quality Supervisor position will be expected to oversee the following:

To support the HSQE Manager and Production/Material Management Teams in ensuring that the products and services provided are fit for purpose and meet both external and internal QA requirements whilstachieving operational targets and deadlines.

Oversee and co-ordinate the work of the inspection staff against the production schedules (work to list) with regards to the following:

• Timely 1st Off inspection

• ‘Final view’ inspection

• PMI, Ferritescope & Copper Sulphate inspections

• Goods-inwards inspection

• Painting/Coating inspection

  • Manage the inspection resources to ensure that all personnel are multiskilled and fully conversant in all areas of inspection where possible. 
  • Represent the Inspection team at the daily Visualisation Meetings, if required, and supporting the Materials Manager in giving updates on inspection issues.
  • Review the training and development needs of inspection personnel and make recommendations for personal development and improvement, including maintenance of the skills matrix.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that all inspection documentation procedures are followed. This includes

• 1st Off Inspections

• Dimensional Inspection Record Sheets

• PMI, Ferritescope & Copper Sulphate Reports

• Works Traveller Booking

• Goods Reject Notes

• Non-conformance reports

• Raw materials certification

• Oversee calibration of inspection equipment

 Other duties will include:

Attendance at subcontractors or customer facilities to view component parts or assemblies.

Responsible for ensuring that good house-keeping is maintained within all the inspection areas and that continuous improvement is encouraged and promoted amongst personnel.

Actively seek and encourage Inspection Personnel to report situations and observations of concern and respond in an appropriate manner and in line with the Company’s Health and Safety policies and procedures to all reported accidents, incidents & near miss concerns in the Inspection area.

The ability to maintain effective professional relationships with the HSQE team, the Production Management Team, Engineering Department, Planning & Purchasing Department and F&D for all inspection issues and liaison with the Accounts Department for invoicing and payroll purposes.

Liaison with customer representatives with regards to the inspection and final witness of goods in line with the customer’s quality requirements as stated on the Company Quality Plan.

Liaison with key suppliers and responding to their queries to ensure that quality requirements are understood and met.

 The succesful candidate will have the following:

  • Time served apprenticeship with experience from a high precision environment.
  • Fully experienced with all inspection/measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, thread gauges, shadow graphs and hardness checking equipments.
  • Fully experienced in reading both component and assembly drawings.
  • Ability to use a Co-ordinate measuring machine, both manual & CNC would be desirable.
  • Conversant with materials certification.
  • Experience of supervising a team of employees
  • Good numerical and literacy skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications, email and internet.
