Production Shift Manager
£40,000 to £42,000 annum Pension, Package

Our client is a major Global FMCG and Food and Drink manufacturer. There is an immediate recruitment requirement for a Production Shift Manager. Quality is a fundamental issue. Their products undoubtedly compliment their production methods, and as such, their product range is second to none!!!
Their large, prestigious manufacturing sites have undergone significant change and expansion, and in order to remain at the forefront of a highly competitive and fast-moving market, an opportunity has arisen for a Production Shift Manager; a role which will focus on re-enforcing the new mindset required from production operators by providing a role model for others to follow.
Your primary role will be to ensure the effective and efficient running of the shift (in conjunction with the Unit Manager), ensuring that production is fit for purpose and meets customer expectations.
The role is to lead an integrated team of operators in the achievement of performance targets in a designated area of the factory. In addition, the role will have responsibility for continuously improving performance in the section by engaging team members and promoting best practice, machine reliability and personnel accountability.
You will be a vital link in the factory management structure, as it plays a key role in ensuring that the factory is as efficient, flexible and competitive as it possibly can be.
You will create a real positive environment on the shop floor, encouraging operators to take ownership for monitoring machine performance, collecting data and generating ideas and solutions. In addition, you will set clear provision of objectives which will be critical for sections to achieve their targets.
You will coordinate the production process to ensure production targets and efficiencies are met whilst minimising waste and ensuring customer expectations for quality and delivery are met on time and in full
You will Ensure successful implementation of continuous improvement culture and timely closure of customer complaints.
You will have experience in broad manufacturing, operations and production experience in fast moving industry, managing and leading a team of operators.
Essentially, candidates must have experience of applying modern management techniques in a labour intensive, change oriented environment. You have a high level of adaptable communication skills in order to win the hearts and minds of the people around you.
Familiarity with Modern Manufacturing Techniques including Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Set Up Reduction would be a distinct advantage. The successful candidate will have experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and World Class Manufacturing (WCM) techniques.
This is a rotating shift-based role.
