Transport Controller

  • Fradley Park, near Lichfield £10.50 per hour Type of Job: Temporary

A vacancy has arisen for a Transport Controller working for one of our most prestigious clients based in Fradley Park, Lichfield. You will be responsible to ensure all deliveries and collections are undertaken within agreed time-frames; to co-ordinate the capture, processing and dispatch of orders. This will include liaison with the Customer Service, Warehouse Operations and Transport Teams. Successful candidates will be responsible for administration, including recording of driver's hours and information relating to deliveries and collections. The right candidates will have the potential for career progression.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provision of excellent customer service
  • To ensure all deliveries and collections are undertaken in a timely manner
  • Liaison with key stakeholders
  • To ensure stock integrity is maintained
  • Driver de-briefing
  • Track vehicles to ensure deliveries are completed and that all resources are being fully utilised
  • Plan and utilise driver and vehicle resource
  • Preparation of Transport and customer documents - ensure compliance with standard operating procedure
  • To adhere to all company health and safety policies and standards of housekeeping
  • Build relationship with internal transport team and warehouse operations team
  • Inputting dispatch information into the system
  • Pro-actively escalates any potential service issue to both immediate management and to the customer
  • Creation of orders through to Documentation, liaising with warehouse personnel to ensure dispatch
  • Liaising with the operation to ensure stock is dispatched correctly
  • Ensuring all administration is up to date and accurate
  • To undertake any other reasonable tasks as detailed by the Management Team

Candidate must be:

  • Sound knowledge of transport operations
  • Good level of IT and Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel)
  • Good level of high school education
  • Basic level of literacy and numeracy
  • CPC would be an advantage but not required
  • Good level of geographical knowledge preferable
  • Respectful and Demonstrates integrity

You will be required to work Monday to Friday and some flexibility to work additional shifts, where necessary to meet the business needs is essential.
