What do
I need to
work?
Staffline is responsible for ensuring your right to work in the UK, regardless of nationality. Our recruitment consultants will need to see either your original documents or a Share Code as outlined below. Where necessary, we may also carry out Home Office checks to confirm eligibility.
If you’re unsure about what documents you need, please speak to your recruitment consultant when booking your interview.
For British or Irish Citizens
You must provide one of the following:
A valid or expired British or Irish passport (must be unclipped)
A UK or Irish birth certificate (short or long version, must include at least one parent’s name)
A UK or Irish adoption certificate (must include at least one adoptive parent’s name)
A Certificate of Registration or Naturalisation as a British or Irish citizen
PLUS one of the following for National Insurance (NI) proof:
- P45 or P60 issued by a previous employer
- Government-issued NI card (both sides scanned)
- Payslip from a previous employer showing NI number
- Official letter from a government agency showing NI number

For Non-British Citizens
If You Have an e-Visa
- You must provide proof via the UK Government website: Prove your right to work
If you are an Overseas Student, you must also provide a signed/stamped letter from your university confirming your enrolment, course dates, and vacation periods
If You Have Indefinite Leave to Remain
Provide one of the following:
- A valid passport showing a UK Indefinite Leave visa
- A current Immigration Status Document confirming Indefinite Leave, plus official NI proof (P45, P60, payslip, or government letter)
If You Have Limited Leave to Remain
Provide one of the following:
- A valid passport showing permission to stay in the UK and work in your role
- A current Immigration Status Document with a valid endorsement, plus official NI proof (P45, P60, payslip, or government letter)
- A Certificate of Application from the Home Office (verification required before employment)
- An Application Registration Card stating permission to work (verification required before employment)
If you have a Student Visa, you must also provide a signed/stamped university letter confirming your enrolment, course dates, and vacation periods.
