Security Officer

We are currently recruiting for a Security Officer to join the G4S team, working for a well known-site in Whitehall!
Contract Information:
Pay Rate: £14.44 per hour
Hours: 42 hours per week
Shifts: 4 on, 4 off shift pattern. Flexibility require Monday to Sunday, on a day and night shift rotation.
SIA License - Door Supervisor with CCTV is essential.
You must have lived in the UK for at least the last 5 years, due to SC Clearance requirements.
Your Time at Work
- This role involves collaborative working with the site security teams, their customers and
affiliated parties.
- Assist in the completion of monthly building checks and compliance audits as required
within the contract specification to ensure a safe and compliant building.
- Supporting any key events in and out of normal working hours.
- Ensure that the performance of team's individuals is in line with G4S policies,
procedures, and contract requirements.
- Promote collaboration across all operational and support teams, preferred suppliers,
and customer groups, whilst maintaining the interest of the company.
- Support the Security Manager in the completion of all Security related documentation that
is applicable to your service stream and site operations. This may include and is not.
limited to Assignment Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Operating etc.
- Support the Security Manager and Security Controllers in creating a positive workplace
and culture. Regular training, and continuous development of all placemakers within your
team is critical to achieving this and you will be made aware of what training courses you
are required to achieve as this role develops.
- Work collaboratively with other service streams onsite and within the wider team to
promote and facilitate the achievement of company and corporate objectives towards
the G4S vision, whilst supporting the GPA in their ambitions.
- Regular reporting to the Security Manager and submission of shift handover reports,
where applicable.
- Daily task, security and building checks to be completed in a timely manner and
submitted as per the timeframes agreed with GPA Security and as per contractual
obligations.
- Support the Security Manager, Security Controllers and Lead Officers in all incidents and
emergencies onsite and supporting the Incident Command Officer (ICO) as per the
Incident Management Plan, BCDR and Security Management Plan and following the
escalation protocol.
- Ensure you promote a professional and welcoming service, to meet and greet all building
users and visitors, being visible and encouraging with any assistance required whilst
increasing the Workplace Experience.
- To monitor and operate all security systems when required (CCTV, access control
systems, fire alarms, intruder alarms and any other related to the safety and security of
the building).
- Adheres to the site and G4S procedures to ensure that all contractors have a valid Work
Permit for the task being completed onsite and have been correctly authorised in writing
when this procedure is not in place.
- To effectively cover and assist with monitoring CCTV for the prevention of crime and to
ensure the Health and Safety of staff and visitors.
- Deal with access requests and issue access cards where appropriate and in conjunction
with site process and procedures.
- Completion of equipment and asset checks at the point of handover and participate in a
full and detailed Shift handover/briefing.
- Ensure all required paperwork is completed to the highest standards, on the correct
documentation and provided to the appropriate people on time.
- Ensure checks of the internal and external perimeters onsite and report any hazards or
suspicious items immediately as per the site process and procedures.
- To report all incidents and unusual events to the Security Manager, Security Controllers
and Lead Officers for escalation.
- To efficiently respond to alarms as instructed by the site process and procedures.
- To play an integral role in any emergency situation which may include having to assist in
raising the alarm for first aid incidents, providing first aid and/or assistance to trained first
aiders onsite.
- Set an example and contribute towards a positive one team culture and work towards
improving the Workplace Experience by picking up/reporting litter and reporting or dealing
with spillages as soon as they occur.
- Must be familiar with VIPs and ensure your team are supported in how to deal with high
profile people and allow speedy access with minimal delays.
- Be fully conversant with all changes in building set up and to ensure information is
passed both upwards and cascaded downwards.
- Liaise with external authorities as appropriate which may include the London City Police
and British Transport Police.
- Collation and reporting of information relating to building issues and maintenance
requests in a timely, efficient, and professional manner.
- Ensure all policies and procedures are followed and all members of staff are kept up to
date with any changes.
- Administration, issue and return of all keys and radio communication equipment.
- Loading Bay files and systems are maintained effectively and readily available for audit as
required.
- Ensure that all Logbooks and registers are maintained correctly.
- Operate as a banksman within the loading bay area and in conjunction with site SOPs
and Assignment instructions to ensure the security and safety of all employees,
customers, visitors, cyclists and drivers within the loading bay area.
- Manage and deliver contracted services in accordance with G4S agreed
processes and service level agreements to ensure customer expectations are met or
exceeded.
- Deliver what was promised as part of the contract specification, on time and with minimal
impact on business continuity.
- Support a continuous improvement culture toward all aspects of the G4S service delivery
as agreed within the contract specification.
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships based on open and honest
communication with customer representatives to ensure confidence in our business and
to present a credible and professional image in everything we do.
- Ensure that all Health & Safety requirements are met in accordance with the customer
and G4S policies and procedures.
Our Perfect Worker
- Aged over 18.
- Requires specialist knowledge and a high degree of initiative, creativity with a wide scope for discretion.
- Must hold a valid CCTV and Door Supervisor license, and keep in date.
- Must be first aid trained.
- Banksman training is required to support the Security Operation on site.
- Working in Public Sector commercial environments is preferable.
- Security experience of working in high profile buildings.
- An excellent team player.
- Numeracy and technology literate.
- Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of current legislation of role applying for.
- A proactive and positive 'can do' attitude.
- Calm and professional approach at all times.
