We are currently recruiting for a Protection Officer to join the G4S team, working for a well known-site at Coventry University.

The Protection Officer team forms the backbone of our campus security provision at Coventry University. Directed from the control room, the team is responsible for delivering a high-profile visual deterrent, performing core protection duties, and acting as first responders to incidents and emergencies across the estate.

Contract Information:
Rate of pay: £14.20 per hour
Shifts: Days, nights and weekends - No set shift pattern

A SIA Door Supervisor and a full UK manual driving licence are required for this role.

Your Time at Work

Officers are deployed in building-specific clusters for foot and vehicle patrols. To ensure operational versatility, officers will work on a rolling rota basis that includes standard patrol duties, operating the Control Room, and manning the mobile response vehicle.

Patrol & Core Security Operations:

- Undertake planned and ad-hoc foot and vehicle patrols across the University estate, land, and recreational/operational sites.
- Present a high-profile, reassuring presence during normal and out-of-hours operations to protect students, visitors, and staff.
- Undertake internal locking and unlocking of University locations and assist in the clearance of personnel from buildings at the end of the day

Incident & Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to fire and intruder alarm activations. Support the early identification of fire and/or wflooding.
- Attend emergency incidents (theft, assault, fire, accident) and trigger the University's emergency
call-out procedures.
- Provide rapid responses to 'call requests' from students, visitors, or employees

Health, Safety & Facilities Support:

- Conduct dedicated Health and Safety patrols. Maintain fire routes/exits and record/maintain emergency fire equipment (extinguishers).
- Monitor, check, and log emergency first aid boxes, ensuring stocks are replenished.
- Undertake basic janitorial duties (minor cleaning, dealing with out-of-hours spillages, minor maintenance, re-setting trip switches, moving furniture, and setting up rooms)

Customer Service & Administration:

- Act as an ambassador for the University, promoting personal safety awareness throughout the
community.
- Provide the management, control, recording, and issuing of keys.
- Complete incident recording systems and all associated documentation factually and accurately.
- Act as a central point of contact for Estate call-outs and support award ceremonies and other events.
