Staffline are recruiting for Hygiene Manager in Aylesbury.

The rate of pay is £35,000 to £40,000 per annum

Your Time at Work

Hygiene Management
- Develop and implement site hygiene standards, procedures and cleaning schedules.
- Ensure all production areas, equipment and facilities are cleaned and sanitised effectively.
- Manage hygiene activities to minimise microbiological, allergen and foreign body risks.
- Ensure completion and verification of pre-operational hygiene inspections.
- Monitor hygiene performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with BRCGS, retailer standards, customer requirements and relevant legislation.
- Support HACCP, TACCP and VACCP programmes through effective hygiene controls.
- Lead hygiene elements of customer, third-party and regulatory audits.
- Investigate hygiene-related non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain hygiene documentation, records and trend analysis.

Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, develop and manage hygiene supervisors and operatives.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify training requirements.
- Foster a positive, proactive food safety and hygiene culture.
- Ensure adequate staffing and resource planning across all shifts and monitor ongoing attendance and performance of the team.

Cleaning Validation & Verification
- Manage environmental monitoring programmes.
- Review microbiological results and implement corrective actions where required.
- Validate new cleaning methods, chemicals and equipment.
- Establish and monitor hygiene KPIs.

Health & Safety
- Ensure safe systems of work are followed during cleaning operations.
- Lead COSHH management for all cleaning chemicals.
- Ensure that the team follow machinery isolation and lock-off/tag-out procedures and that these are implemented and audited during hygiene activities.
- Complete risk assessments relating to hygiene operations.
- Drive safe working practices across the hygiene team.

Budget & Resource Management
- Manage hygiene budgets, consumables and chemical usage.
- Monitor expenditure and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Work with suppliers to ensure effective and sustainable hygiene solutions.

Continuous Improvement
- Lead projects to improve hygiene efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability.
- Drive reductions in water, chemical and energy consumption.
- Support operational excellence and factory improvement programmes.

Our Perfect Worker

Essential Experience

- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a food manufacturing hygiene leadership role.
- Experience managing hygiene teams within a high-care or manufacturing environment.
- Experience preparing for and hosting customer and third-party audits.
- Strong understanding of food safety management systems and hygiene controls.

Essential Qualifications

- Food Safety Level 3 minimum (Level 4 desirable).
- HACCP Level 3.
- COSHH awareness/training.
- Health & Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely).

Knowledge & Skills

- Strong understanding of microbiological risks and environmental monitoring.
- Knowledge of BRCGS and retailer standards.
- Excellent leadership and people-management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis capability.
- Good IT and reporting skills.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management.
