An exciting opportunity has become available to join Allied Universal as a Security Control Centre Operator, working for a global financial business in London!
Contract Information:
Location: Lime Street, London
Pay Rate: £16.50 per hour
Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off. Flexibility required Monday to Sunday, day and night shift rotation.
Hours per week: 42 hours (average)
SIA Licences: Security Guarding or Door Supervisor, and CCTV licence
Experience: Over two years in a SSC or SOC environment

Your Time at Work
The Security Control Centre (SCC) Operator is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring and management of security systems, incidents, and travel risk activities across multiple sites throughout the UK and Western Europe. The role serves as the first point of contact for security-related incidents and is responsible for maintaining situational awareness, ensuring effective incident escalation, and supporting the safety and security of employees, visitors, and company assets.
The SCC Operator will monitor CCTV systems, manage security alarms, conduct system health checks, administer security platforms, maintain the Daily Occurrence Book, and support travel risk management activities through Crisis24 and other operational systems. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
Security Systems Monitoring
- Continuously monitor CCTV, alarm monitoring systems, access control systems, and other security platforms.
- Identify, assess, and escalate security incidents in accordance with company procedures.
- Monitor security systems across multiple locations within the UK and Western Europe.
- Maintain situational awareness of all ongoing incidents and operational activity.
Alarm Management
- Respond to and investigate security, intrusion, access control, duress, environmental, and building management alarms.
- Conduct initial assessments and determine appropriate response and escalation actions.
- Liaise with on-site security personnel, facilities teams, emergency services, and management during alarm activations.
- Maintain accurate records of alarm activations and outcomes.
CCTV Monitoring and Investigations
- Monitor CCTV systems to identify suspicious activity, security breaches, and operational concerns.
- Conduct CCTV reviews and investigations relating to security incidents, health and safety events, and requests from stakeholders.
- Preserve and retrieve CCTV footage when required for investigations.
- Ensure CCTV operations remain compliant with company policies and data protection requirements.
CCTV and Security Systems Health Checks
- Perform daily CCTV health checks to ensure cameras and recording equipment are fully operational.
- Conduct regular checks of access control systems, alarm platforms, and associated monitoring software.
- Record and report system faults and outages.
- Liaise with technology support teams and service providers to ensure faults are resolved promptly.
Travel Risk Management
- Support the administration of travel risk management processes using Crisis24 and related platforms.
- Monitor travelling employees and maintain accurate travel records within designated systems.
- Conduct traveller welfare checks during significant incidents or elevated risk situations.
- Monitor global security developments and escalate events that may impact employees or business operations.
- Assist with traveller tracking, emergency communications, and incident response activities.
Systems Administration
- Support the administration of security and operational systems.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access requests where authorised.
- Maintain accurate records of system configurations and operational data.
- Generate reports relating to system performance and operational activities.
Daily Occurrence Book and Incident Reporting
-Maintain an accurate and detailed Daily Occurrence Book (DOB).
- Produce professional incident reports, investigation summaries, and shift handover reports.
- Record all operational activity, incidents, faults, and security events.
- Ensure documentation is completed in accordance with company standards and audit requirements.
Monitoring and Intelligence
- Monitor Crisis24, and other business-critical monitoring systems.
- Maintain awareness of demonstrations, severe weather events, geopolitical developments, and security incidents that may affect company operations.
- Escalate relevant intelligence to management and operational stakeholders.
Emergency Response and Incident Escalation
- Act as the first point of contact for security incidents and emergencies.
- Coordinate initial response actions and follow established escalation procedures.
- Support emergency response activities including evacuations, business continuity incidents, demonstrations, severe weather events, and critical security incidents.
- Ensure all actions are documented accurately and communicated effectively.
- Communication and Teamwork
- Maintain professional communication with employees, contractors, visitors, security personnel, and external agencies.
- Participate in shift briefings, operational updates, and training activities.
- Support a collaborative working environment within the Security Control Centre.
- Provide excellent customer service while maintaining security and operational standards.
Our Perfect Worker
- Previous experience within a Security Control Centre (SCC), Security Operations Centre (SOC), control room, or similar security environment.
- Experience monitoring CCTV, alarm systems, and access control platforms.
- Strong incident management and escalation experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong report-writing and record-keeping ability.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid SIA CCTV Licence.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening and security vetting requirements.
- SIA Security Guarding or Door Supervisor Licence.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Experience using Crisis24 or other travel risk management platforms.
- Experience with incident management systems and security technologies.
- Knowledge of travel risk management procedures and executive travel support.
- Experience working within a corporate or multinational security environment.
