Security Operations Manager
Posted on September 29th, 2026
Pay Per Annum: £85,000
Location: London.
Hours: 40 hours per week.
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required due to business need.
SIA Licence Required: Security Guarding or Door Supervisor.
Experience Level: Security Operations Manager and above.
The Physical Security Operations Manager is the dedicated on-site security lead for the company London offices. The core of the role is running London security operations day to day, with full ownership from the first day in post. Alongside this, the post holder supports the EMEA Physical Security Manager in standing up the security operations regime for company's new London office in line with the relocation. The role carries a high degree of autonomy and, in the absence of the EMEA Physical Security Manager, the post holder is the main operational point of contact for security in London.
The role has three parts:
1. London operations (core of the role). Own day-to-day security operations across London sites from the first day in post, including the new office following the relocation and any further sites as the London presence grows.
2. Relocation support. Support the EMEA Physical Security Manager in establishing security operations at the new office, including the recruitment of officers for new posts, and in maintaining security through the move.
3. Cover for the EMEA Physical Security Manager in London. In the EMEA Physical Security Manager's absence, act as an operational point of contact for security in London.
The successful post holder is an approachable security partner who builds trust with employees, works closely with building management, the emergency services and company wide security functions, and enables the business rather than restricting it.
Your Time at Work
- Site security operations. Run day-to-day security operations at the London offices, safeguarding employees, visitors and assets, and keeping the sites operating physical security standards and applicable AI Safety Level (ASL) requirements.
- Guard force oversight and quality assurance. Lead and supervise the contracted security teams across the London sites, including rosters and cover, assignment instructions, standards of dress and conduct, training records, SIA licensing, performance feedback and quality checks, so that the service is delivered consistently to the agreed specification.
- Emergency response and life safety. Lead the security response to fire, medical, security and building incidents. Maintain and exercise the site emergency procedures and the landlord, follow through the fire risk assessment actions allocated to security, and ensure officers are trained and drilled.
- Incident management. Respond to, record and report security incidents, carry out initial investigations and follow up on corrective actions. Escalate to the EMEA Physical Security Manager and GSOC.
- Building management and local relationships. Act as the company's consistent local point of contact for building management, neighbouring occupiers, the Metropolitan Police Service and the emergency services.
- Access control. Administer access control day to day in partnership with the GSIS Access Team, covering visitor and contractor access, badge issue and returns, permission changes and periodic audits of access records.
- Security technology. Work with the GSIS Access Team, IT, Facilities and the appointed installers to keep access control, CCTV and incident-management systems working and used correctly, and follow faults through to resolution.
- Reporting. Produce the monthly operational report for London (incidents, staffing, training, licensing, KPIs and SLA performance), and provide the operational information that the company needs to verify rosters and monthly invoices, including confirmation that any additional cover was authorised.
- Cross-functional working. Partner with company Facilities, IT, Workplace, GSOC, business continuity and the GSIS Access Team, and represent security in office projects and process improvements.
Relocation
- Support the EMEA Physical Security Manager in standing up the security operations regime for the new office in line with the relocation, including:
- Assisting the G4S Central London Operations Manager in recruiting and selecting suitable officers for new posts.
- Operational input to the security design, the guarding model and the commissioning of security systems.
- Preparing assignment instructions, post orders and emergency procedures, and briefing and training the officer team before opening.
- Planning and delivering security for the move, with security maintained across the sites throughout the transition.
Deputising for the EMEA Physical Security Manager in London
- Act as the operational point of contact for security in London when the EMEA Physical Security Manager is on leave or otherwise unavailable, including out-of-hours escalation from GSOC.
- Take operational decisions within agreed procedures, and escalate anything outside them to the EMEA Physical Security Manager or, in an emergency, to GSIS management in line with the escalation procedure.
- Keep the EMEA Physical Security Manager informed of anything material at the London sites.
Boundaries of the role
- The role carries no commercial authority. Rates, contract changes, additional hours, posts or services, and G4S's terms of business remain matters for site and G4S account management, and the post holder refers these on rather than agreeing them locally. Additional or ad-hoc cover is arranged only with the customers prior authorisation.
- The post holder does not line-manage the customer employees.
- Company confidential information, incident information and access records are handled only in accordance with instructions and are not shared outside the account without the customer agreement.

Required

- Experience of recruiting, selecting and onboarding security officers.

- Proven ability to build productive relationships with building management, police and emergency services, and with business partners at all levels.
- Clear written and spoken communication, including accurate incident and monthly reporting.
