We are recruiting for Machine Operators to join a busy fresh produce operation (citrus & grape) in Alconbury Weald.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is motivated, hardworking and keen to develop. You'll work with production machinery, learn how to set up and improve machine performance, and play an important part in keeping production running safely and efficiently.
Previous Machine Operator experience is an advantage, but we are also interested in candidates with the right attitude, technical interest and willingness to learn. Training will be provided.
Pay Rates
£12.71 per hour during training
£13.70 per hour after successful completion of training
Overtime after 48 hours:
£15.89 per hour during training
£17.13 per hour after successful completion of training
Shift Pattern
4 days on, 4 days off
07:00 - 19:30
A great shift pattern offering regular working hours followed by 4 consecutive days off.
Transport Available from Peterborough
Transport is available from 4 convenient pick-up locations across Peterborough for £8 per day return, taking you to work and back.

Your Time at Work
As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring production machinery to help achieve daily production targets while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and efficiency.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Operating production machinery safely and efficiently.
- Setting and adjusting machinery to achieve the best possible performance.
- Monitoring machine speeds, production targets and hourly performance.
- Completing product changeovers, including label verification.
- Identifying machine issues and using problem-solving skills to reduce downtime.
- Supporting fast and efficient changeovers.
- Ensuring machinery is kept clean, safe and fit for use.
- Following production procedures, food safety and quality standards.
- Working closely with Line Leaders to achieve daily plans and KPIs.
- Identifying and reporting hazards, near misses and unsafe working conditions.
- Supporting and training trainee or junior Machine Operators as your experience develops.
- Taking ownership of your machine and contributing ideas for continuous improvement.
Our Perfect Worker
To be successful as a Machine Operator, we are looking for someone who is practical, motivated and interested in learning how machinery works.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous Machine Operator experience or an interest in machinery, engineering or technical work.
- A motivated, ambitious and hardworking attitude.
- Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work in a KPI-driven environment and understand production targets.
- Good problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude.
- The confidence to communicate issues and areas of concern.
- A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
- The ability to wear required PPE and follow health and safety procedures.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Experience within fresh produce, food production, manufacturing or a similar environment would be beneficial.
You don't necessarily need years of Machine Operator experience. If you are reliable, technically minded, enjoy learning how things work and are ready for a new challenge, we want to hear from you.
