Port Security Officer

We are currently recruiting for a Security Officer to join the G4S team, working for a well-known site in Grimsby!
Contract Information:
Pay Rate: £14.50 per hour
Hours: 42 hour contract
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, 6am to 6pm days, nights and weekends
SIA Licence: SIA Door Supervisor Licence
A full UK manual driving licence is essential for this position.

Your Time at Work
Principal Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code and all applicable maritime security legislation and local regulations.
- Maintain security standards across the RWE Grimsby Hub.
- Maintain security standards across the two RWE Grimsby Hub warehouses.
General Responsibilities
- Conduct daily perimeter foot patrols of all restricted areas, including warehouse facilities.
- Ensure all perimeter fencing is secure, free from damage or signs of tampering, and that gates and barriers are adequately secured or appropriately guarded.
- Inspect and maintain all security signage located on restricted area fencing, ensuring it remains visible, legible, and undamaged.
- Carry out random searches of personnel, vehicles, and cargo entering restricted areas in accordance with established security procedures.
- Conduct regular identification and access pass checks.
- Control and record the entry and exit of delivery vehicles requiring access to restricted areas.
- Ensure vessel crew members leaving a vessel during layover periods are signed out and signed back in upon return, with appropriate identification documentation verified.
- Complete all required security documentation, including incident reports, witness statements, and other security-related records.
- Support emergency response activities, including traffic management and site access control during incidents.
Security Operations Responsibilities
Access Control
- Verify the validity of staff, visitor, and contractor identification and access passes.
- Screen personnel, vehicles, and deliveries entering restricted areas to ensure compliance with site security requirements.
- Control and monitor access to restricted and controlled zones.
Surveillance and Monitoring
- Monitor CCTV systems and report any suspicious activity or security breaches.
- Conduct routine and ad hoc foot patrols throughout the Hub and warehouse facilities.
- Inspect facility perimeters, buildings, and restricted areas to identify and address security vulnerabilities.
- Maintain vigilance and respond appropriately to security incidents, alarms, or concerns.
Reporting and Compliance
- Maintain accurate security logs and records.
- Report security breaches, suspicious activity, safety concerns, and incidents promptly through the appropriate reporting channels.
- Support security audits, inspections, and compliance reviews as required.
Emergency Response
- Assist with emergency situations, evacuations, and business continuity activities.
- Provide security support during incidents and coordinate with emergency services when necessary.
- Support traffic management and site access arrangements during emergency events.

Key Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of the ISPS Code and maritime security procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Effective communication and report-writing skills.
- Competence in CCTV monitoring and access control systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
